Portfolio SAFe Updates

“The Lean Portfolio Management course was incredibly useful for our implementation of SAFe at Travelport. The format and structure of the course enabled us to create our LPM implementation roadmap, and leave with next steps clearly articulated and actionable. I highly recommend this course for any organization implementing Lean portfolio management practices at scale.” —Hilla Knapke, Director, APMO and SAFe Enterprise Transformation, Travelport

Following several test runs of the course and a successful and sold-out first teach, I’m excited to announce that the Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) course is now available in the U.S. and internationally. You can find dates and registration information here.

We received valuable feedback in LPM empathy interviews from people in three alphas, one beta, and a first-teach of the GA course materials. Which is why I’m so confident that this course will enable executives, enterprise architects, product managers, business owners, and Agile teams to work together, and effectively align strategy with execution. A course highlight is definitely the participatory budgeting workshop that demonstrates how to allocate the right investments to build the right things and help the enterprise achieve its business objectives.

In this three-day, interactive course, attendees will collaborate to identify strategic themes, capture the current and future state of their portfolio, and identify important business initiatives to achieve the future state. Participants will also learn how to establish Lean budgets and guardrails, how to describe Epics, operate the Portfolio Kanban, and so much more.

After attending the course and passing the exam, attendees will become a Certified SAFe® 4 Lean Portfolio Manager.

Read more about the LPM course here, and go here to find an upcoming course near you.

As always, we welcome your continued feedback to help us improve our courses.

Stay SAFe,
—Richard Knaster
