VIDEO: From Agile Manifesto to SAFe – Dean’s four-decade adventure with pre-waterfall, waterfall, RUP, Lean, and Agile
Hi Folks, The 20th Anniversary of the Agile Manifesto stirred up a lot of reminiscing in our community last month. While it might inspire nostalgia, the Manifesto isn’t some historical document that we regard as an object of curiosity. Quite the contrary. At Scaled Agile, much of our Lean-Agile DNA can be attributed to the Manifesto, and its values and principles—relevant as ever—continue to directly impact SAFe’s evolving approach to development. I joined the celebration.
On SAFe 5 Updates, Meerkats, and Operational and Development Value Streams
What do these things have in common? A lot more than you might think! During our SPC(T) class last week, SAFe Fellow and continuous-learning, deep-OCM-thinker Joe Vallone pointed our class to John Kotter and Holger Rathgeber’s latest fable, That’s Not How We Do It Here! The title alone piqued my interest and as a fan of their prior fable Our Iceberg is Melting (I will always remember Penguin ‘NoNo’ in that book; and BTW if.
What’s new in SAFe 5? How about Operational Value Streams as first-class citizens?
…illustrated in the figure below, where we are highlighting some standard types of OVS patterns that we have observed in the field. This helps the dev community organize their Development Value Streams around value as the operational value…

Hi Folks, At the recent Global SAFe Summit, I had a chance to moderate a panel with three of my heroes: Mik Kersten, Gene Kim, and Don Reinertsen. These best-selling authors are exceptionally astute thinkers who have influenced how we approach IT operations, digital disruption, innovation, and product development. I’ve read nearly everything they’ve written and much of SAFe is built upon the principles and practices that these folks have brought to the industry. The.

SAFe® for Marketing
Hi Folks, With SAFe 5.0, we extended SAFe guidance from the realm of pure tech teams to other teams critical to the building and support of innovative businesses solutions. Real business agility demands this. To that end, we’ve been working with a number of enterprises to better understand how to integrate marketing with their SAFe implementations. In addition, as I think that we’ve noted previously, we run our entire business on SAFe and marketing has.
China’s Cerno Exceeds Customer Expectations with SAFe
“We collaborate more than ever with our customers by involving them in planning as much as we can. And we deliver frequent demos—even beyond customers’ expectations. Our customers have found communication to be more effective since the SAFe implementation.” —Sam Wu, Agile Head Coach and Training Director, Cerno As the practice of SAFe expands across the globe, we pay close attention to potential cultural or language barriers that might prove challenging. Much like aviation, SAFe.
European SAFe Summit update
Hi Folks, Our first virtual SAFe Summit is just around the corner and there are only a few more days left to register. Previous attendees have told us that bringing the community together is an important aspect of a SAFe Summit, and we have worked hard to recreate these interactions in a virtual environment. There will be numerous opportunities to network, chat with other attendees, and ask questions. There will be an interactive lobby with.
